I believe in rating places for what they're intended to be. If I rate a local dive bar, I'm not comparing it to a fancy downtown restaurant. That said, I come here to shoot pool, eat snacks and have a drink or two. What I'm looking for in a local bar in regards to these things are adequate pool tables so I'm not waiting 2 hours to play, food that is good and strong, cheap drinks. From all of those perspectives, I have no complaints with Rodder's. In particular, I ordered the steak bites once and was pleasantly surprised to find they're not breaded. Instead, they are juicy, very well-seasoned pieces of steak - probably equivalent to 6 oz or so? They're so good, I don't think I've ordered anything else. The steak bites deserve 5*, seriously. This place serves as the venue for local pool tournaments, so there are LOADS of pool tables. It's pretty much a guarantee that you can get on a table and play, so that is fantastic also. The staff have all been friendly to me and I've had no issues. The drinks are strong and the prices are cheap. So, basically your average local dive bar, but with AMAZING steak bites and tons of pool tables to boost it a star above average.

My husband and I came to see our friend Bobby sing and to see Haystack, we got there early after we had eaten so my husband had a beer and I drank two margaritas on top of the four I had at dinner, the margaritas were good it was sometime later after I started feeling really drunk that I got a chicken quesadilla and some steak bites. The quesadilla was yummy I shared with our friend Bobby and his brothertbrother the steak bites were not what I expected they were large pieces of actual steak that were overcooked (I like my steak medium rare to rare ) and they were way over seasoned to much montreal all I tasted was salt. But the drinks, music, and friends made up for that so I am giving five stars:-)

The staff doesn't really want your money or to be busy at all. They bitch about you being here when you're smoking outside. Horrible for customers to hear . I'm a bartender and I would LOVE the business! But I guess everyone is different. HOWEVER... NICK is awesome sweet and attentive to the guest here.

Good place to play pool; Valley tables in back, Diamonds in front. Pretty good food, good drinks, the service was fine! I've been here a few times, haven't had any bad experiences! The biscuits and gravy were good, one of the better Bloody Mary's I've had.

Nothing is good about this place. And their bartender named Mike is the rudest server in the world. He should be fired. Don't go here.

This place is a crazy combination of what you can offer to the public to get them in. It's a restaurant, it's a laundrymat, it's a pool hall and shuffle boards, it a venue for live bands up on a huge stage. It just kinda goes from room to room and changes each step of the way. I've never experience even a smidgen of good service here from the bartenders, wait staff, manager, NO ONE. The foods ok. I only go if a friend of a friend or someone is playing live there and I want to check them out or give my support. You have to go into the laundrymat to use the restroom and they are pretty scary like you'd expect at a public laundry. I really don't know why I'm even giving 2 stars to this place. Maybe because it's at least a place that local bands might get a chance to play. I took a friend in there once to look into playing there. We were met by the self proclaimed "God of Rock N Roll" manager who acted like you'd have to REALLY impress him big time to ever have a shot at playing here. Oh Please! That's it, I'm taking a star away.

Yes! The atmosphere DOES stink! And so does their help! I brought my out of town cousin here after a fabulous evening on The Portland Spirit celebrating our birthdays! My first time drinking champagne at almost 40! We were having such a great night, we weren't quite ready to see it end so we stopped off at Rodders for one last drink and a fine farewell to our perfect evening! Our drivers dropped us off, so it was just two females (pretty dressed up from our dinner cruise adventure). I didn't go "out" much at this time, fairly inexperienced when it came to the bar scene and the nightlife in general. I felt fairly uncomfortable upon entering but little did I know just how uncomfortable I NEEDED to feel! One of the servers, bartenders or whatever he was...a man with long brown hair hanging out on our side of the bar but clearly he worked there or at least hung out there a LOT. He knew all the employees. He had his eye on us from the moment we walked in, but I didn't yet know why! We sat down at the bar, ordered a vodka sour and a vodka cranberry. My cousin from AZ pulled out her wallet which was full of large bills because this was only her 2nd day of vacation and when you vacation you need CASH...and lots of it! She pulled out some money to pay the bartender and hung her purse back on the back of her stool. A few minutes later, the long-haired RAT walked behind us, and before we knew it, her purse was on the floor, all contents scattered at our feet. It took us a second to realize what had happened... I got up and proceeded to help the long haired THIEF pick up the contents of her purse. He apologized for accidentally brushing up against the back of her stool, causing the purse to fall to the floor and spilling all around us. I politely said, "No worries", not yet knowing that the entire episode had been planned so he could steal money from her wallet!! Jodi, a much more cautious person than I, was still a little concerned and confused by what had just taken place, she began making sure all of her belongings were in place. A minute later, she leaned over and whispered to me, "he took a fifty dollar bill." In shock and disbelief, I said, "Are you sure." She counted her money again and she was 100% absolutely sure. She really couldn't afford to take this vacation in the first place, but promising her that we would keep it very affordable, she cautiously agreed, so needless to say I felt horrible knowing she'd come to MY hometown, very close to where I called home and had gotten ripped off, right under her nose by a dirtbag whom I'm pretty sure worked at this place! Long story, short...we called the police. He asked to see the videotape from the evening. Three of the employees went in this room and were taking a very long time in there. I started getting concerned that they were destroying the tape and finally said something to the police officer. A that time he went in there to get them and they came out saying there was something wring with the tape recorder. It had malfunctioned. When the officer asked him to empty his pockets, sure enough there was a fifty dollar bill. We couldn't prove it so nothing became of it. Come to find out, one of the employees, an extremely rude female who was basically calling two paying customers, liars and many other not so classy adjectives, was the daughter of the owner whom was on vacation at the time. I told her I wanted to talk with him upon his return. I never heard from him, after leaving my number. After leaving a few messages for him, i finally spoke with him. Shockingly, he didn't seem concerned by the matter in the slightest bit. The apple just doesn't fall too far from the tree now does it?!?!
